Learning to fly

Sunday, a long run day!
So exciting! Great weather, got some sunscreen (I got a bit of a sunburn yesterday, being exposed for less than one hour in one go. Long run usually is, well, quite long, so I thought it may be a good idea to get some sunscreen. Didn't want to be one of those annoying assholes coming back from holiday, being super tanned. In November. In London. Or just in London, time of the year is actually irrelevant in this case).

The plan was to run to downtown Flagstaff, then to Thorpe Park, and back. If I'm not much more lost than usual, that would do.

But planning sometimes meets unforeseen obstacles.
This time it was a curb, or some other tarmac wrinkle on the pavement, about 4km in. I tripped and fell on some shitty, small, but quite sharp stones. Wasn't running fast, but still pretty good value for money in terms of the damage: skinned both knees, right hip, right elbow, both hands. Right knee and right hip quite seriously bruised as well. Done with running for at least few days...

A bit pissed up with that, as you may imagine. But, let's look on the bright side:

  • I've found very nice looking breakfast place. It was the closest place to my fall point, where I could wash the blood off. It must be really good, as there was a massive queue,
  • I got rid of plenty of skin, so I'll be much lighter - therefore, faster.
It also reminded me of Marcin Swierc. He's the best Polish mountain runner. I met him in Kenya this year. A great athlete and super nice person. He fell this year during one of his races, sliding down the glacier at the speed of up to 70 kph. Pictures were really horrible. Yet he managed to finish the race at 13th place, having to run nearly 40km after the fall! I tried to run back home, but gave up after 1km...

And sorry guys, no pictures this time. That would be disgusting, don't you think?
Anyway, next few days will be quiet, but I'll be back once I'm able to run/walk/cycle again.

[edit]: oh, and I've smashed my old phone, so no American number again...
